Shih Tzu Temperament
Before you go out and purchase a new shih tzu companion, you want to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Although just like people, every dog is different and behaves differently, shih tzus are known to be somewhat possessive when other dogs are present in their owner’s space.
They are also known to be very cuddly, sweet, and affectionate. They require quite a bit of attention, as these are an attention-seeking breed. They definitely don’t prefer to have competition when it comes to their owner’s attention.
Shih Tzu’s are generally known to get along well with other animals, as long as they aren’t invading their personal space. Even though they do have some possession issues that need to be worked on, they typically are docile, fast learning dogs. Very rarely will you find that you need to discipline this dog after their initial training?
As any puppy is going to go through a stage of chewing things and having to learn right from wrong depending on what the owner allows for. You will find that even when these little ones find themselves getting into some trouble, their sweet little hairy faces will make it so much easier to get over and just go straight back to cuddle time with them. They are notorious for being cute, and easily forgiven by their owners.
