CUTEST and FUNNIEST Puppy – That face! Those big dark eyes stared at you with that sweet expression! It’s no surprise that Shih Tzu owners have been so pleased with this little “Lion Dog” for a thousand years. Where Shih Tzu is going, giggles and mischief are going.
The Shih Tzu is an extremely friendly dog breed and likes kids. Their fun personality makes them fit for a family. They are also well suited for both city and country life. If left alone for long periods, the dog will develop antisocial tendencies, including defecation and barking.
If you introduce them early enough, they learn to accept other dogs and pets. Their loyalty to the family is assured, but they are wary of strangers. They can possibly live for about 10 to 15 years, making an excellent dog for a family since they can grow up with the children. In fact, they love to be cuddled and petted by children.
Generally speaking, the Shih Tzu is considered a loving, loyal, alert, active, and animated dog. Most are super playful and full of personality. They are very expressive, so you normally do not need to wonder what your little guy or gal is feeling.
They are very conscious of their surroundings and are experts at reading the ‘vibe’ of people and of a room in general, which is one reason why some Shih Tzu are great therapy dogs.
This breed will normally react badly to adverse environments such as those with too much chaos, and especially to any yelling or attempts at physical discipline (this should never be done).
Shih Tzu always behaves best when rules are made clear, and any attempts to challenge an owner are met with a firm yet loving leadership.
