Black Shih Tzu: The black lion Dog

Black Lion Dog

As the saying goes, “Dog is man’s best friend” holds when considering a worthy partner. The place of dogs since the dawn of time is unshaken in society. They are simply loyal to a fault that a person needs a conscious effort to hate them.

In recent years, small dogs have been more preferred for many reasons. Such reasons are ease of transportation, little size restrictions, damage ability is minimal, and they are more homely.

Hence it is only normal that the Asian breed black Shih Tzu would be widely accepted.

The “lion dog” is the Chinese etymological meaning of its name. This owing to its small size and tendency to resemble a toy lion. This dog has strong historical Chinese roots and can be traced back to the early 600’s a.d.

They are normally classified into the toy group in most developed countries, with a height of eight to 11 inches and a weight of nine to 16 pounds (four to seven kilograms).

Appearance

The black Shih Tzu is rarely full black, rather it is a shade of grey. The coat can change color as the dog gets older. This change in color is a gradual stage that usually occurs around 12 months in age.

To maintain a black Shih Tzu long flowing coat, the owner should be ready for investing time in grooming. Regardless, black Shih Tzu silk hairs don’t grow too long usually 4-6 cm.
