Although Shih Tzus’ are not bred to be yappy dogs, one of their main personality traits is that they just love to play and enjoy life. They will spend a lot of their time chasing after their own tail, bouncing over obstacles courses as if they are nothing, and enjoying a good walk. If you notice your Shih Tzu puppy being particularly social or yappy, they may either be trying to play or it may be a result of not being properly socialized. Take a look at the video below to see Jax, a ferocious sassy puppy.
As you can see, until he is told to be a good boy, Jax is rambunctious with his barking. Meanwhile, the other dog in the video seems to show indifference to it. Jax just seems to be a very talkative Shih Tzu who just wants to play and doesn’t realize his incessant barking may be a bit much.
