Mimi is a Shih Tzu puppy. She loves to play games with her owners like hide and seek and chase. Her owners are musicians, and their house is filled with instruments. They have a piano, drum kit, saxophone and violin, and often play music together in the evenings after work. Mimi loves to come in the music room and watch her owners play. She is entranced by the music, and becomes lost in her own world.

Mimi’s owners noticed how much she loves listening to music and decided to give her a role to play too. They decided it would be fun to allow the Shih Tzu Puppy on piano and teach her how to play. They planned to point at a key and then give her a treat every time she pressed it.

So one evening, they gather in the music room. They set up the keyboard on the floor so that Mimi can reach it easily. They call Mimi in and show her the treats, telling her that she can have a snack if she’s a good student.

How big are Shih Tzu?
The Shih Tzu is a snugly built little animal with a solid, sound structure. It stands from about 8 to 11 inches tall at the shoulders and should weigh from 9 to 16 pounds. The name comes from the Chinese language word for "lion" because this kind of dog was bred to resemble "the lion, as in traditional oriental art". Interestingly they are also known by another name tied to their European introduction. The Shih Tzu is sometimes called the Chrysanthemum Dog, a nickname that describes the way the hair on their face grows out in all directions. They look like a flower with a nose for the centre.

What colours do Shih Tzus come in?
